Cochrane requires a talented internal communications specialist to contribute to the development and implementation of a complex, organization-wide transformation and change management programme to be rolled out over the next 12 months. The key focus of this varied role will be creating and delivering a strategic internal communications plan to support our ongoing transformation programmes. This will involve creating and disseminating clear, informative and engaging content (including online news and social media posts, videos and e-newsletters) for the Cochrane community and the many diverse audiences within it.

Cochrane manages a large number of websites and social media channels. The organisation also uses a digital marketing database for targeted mailings and newsletters; and can segment audiences to ensure effective communication.

This role would suit an individual who embraces change; whilst understanding how to convey key messages to stakeholder groups impacted by this change.

Cochrane is a global network of more than 115,000 people, and our internal community accounts for around 1,000 of those people. This role will need to work effectively across the internal community network, demonstrating excellent cross-cultural working.

  • Develop and maintain an internal communication strategy, plan and calendar for the organisation that is aligned with our strategic targets and ensure that this plan is shared with relevant programme and project leads.
  • Develop effective relationships with key stakeholders and work collaboratively with other project, change and communications teams to identify new and more effective ways to deliver critical messages through written content, audio, video and online forums.
  • Plan, write and publish high quality content for a variety of internal communications mediums, such as the Cochrane community website, targeted email campaigns, social media channels and Slack.
  • Ensure all content is up-to-date, accessible and consistent across all mediums (including multiple Cochrane websites), and is tailored to meet the different needs of diverse target audiences across the global community.
  • Advise and support programme and project leads on change management communications, acting as a key partner in change management within the Central Executive Team.

    · Regularly review feedback and comments from community members, and use these to inform broader internal communications planning and content production processes.

  • Contribute to the ongoing development and implementation of the evolving organization-wide internal communications and change management strategies, in conjunction with the external communications team and senior managers.
  • Take business ownership of our internal communication channels and platforms, including our digital marketing software; and make recommendations on improvements or changes needed.



  • Internal and/or change management communications experience, ideally gained in a large health, research or other complex global organization.
  • Experience of designing and delivering internal communications strategies and plans.
  • Experience of developing innovative and creative solutions to support change management communications.
  • Experience of reporting on the outcome of communications campaigns and monitoring engagement metrics.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills to assess, anticipate and respond to the impact of organizational change on different people and groups.
  • A positive, proactive approach to cross-departmental working within a globally-dispersed organization, where the majority of team members work remotely.
  • Exceptional writing skills with a proven ability to write, proof and edit clear, accessible and engaging content for a wide variety of audiences and platforms.
  • Proven knowledge of and interest in digital content creation and publishing across online and social media platforms.
  • Project management skills with the ability to prioritise competing tasks, coordinate project boards and deliver to deadline.
  • Excellent interpersonal, relationship-building and stakeholder management skills, including an ability to deal with contentious issues and disgruntled people with awareness and diplomacy.
